The principle of respect of human rights as a European value in the international treaties of the EU with third countries

Abstract

The article describes the evolution and application of legal foundation of human rights clauses in the treaty relations between the EU and third countries, the basic approach of the EU to principle of human rights as a European value in international agreements, as well as the problematic issues of the EU's relations with other countries in this regard. The separate analysis on the role and meaning of the European values in relations between Ukraine and the EU is performed.
