GEOPOLITICAL AND GEOECONOMICAL CONSEQUENCES OF RUSSO-UKRANIAN CONFLICT

Abstract

Abstract. The article reports on the universe of negative consequences of Russian expansion
into Ukrainian territory, both for these two countries and their influence on the global affairs.
It details main confrontational tendencies and increase in contradictions between Russia, on
one hand, and members of the international organizations, such as NATO and European Union.
The article analyzes effectiveness of sanctions that were gradually introduced by these organizations
in order to slow down increase of military participation of Russia in annexation of
Ukrainian territory. It underlines low effectiveness of the sanctions and outlines main reasons
for reserved positions of many European countries with regard to more radical sanctions against
Russia. The author introduces the thesis of the need for the new model for regional and global
security, and positions in this process for main geopolitical actors as well as certain countries.
