Mithopoetic PARADIGM in the novel by Joyce Carol Oates' garden of earthly pleasures "

Abstract

The article is an attempt to investigate the mythological paradigm in the American
writer Joyce Carol Oates’ novel «The Garden of Earthly Delights». The work
includes allusions and reminiscences of ancient myths. The biblical origin models
are revealed in the work; they are presented in the novel by the writer and are analyzed.
Attention is focused on the motive of a victim and mystical signs which are
characteristic features of the given novel.
