Abstract

Abstract. The reciprocal US-EU relations perform a crucial role due to world politics. The
essential international decisions regarding the development of human society at a planetary
scale are mostly rendered by these two players. Taking into consideration the institutional differences
between the two actors and the variances in the national interest of both structures they
often say that the comparison and identification purposes of these superpowers are incorrect.
From these positions act as those researchers who emphasize phenomenon rivalry EU and the
United States and the European Union over the last supremacy.
In particular, the EU and the U.S. are different on account of the United States are the only
holistic center, and the European Union is an integral association. These global players have
established either unique historic areas of foreign policy and national interests abroad. For
many EU countries this appears as the regions-former colonies, dependent territories with assumed
European languages and cultures, for instance – African continent, Eastern Europe,
partly South America. For the United States today there are up-to-date paramount vectors, including
Asia-Pacific region, which regards U.S. security strategy, military cooperation and trade
and manufacture, as well as the Middle East – the primary interest in terms of energy sources.
Eventually, the U.S. and the EU indeed have common and competitive fields of relationships,
but the interest of both superpowers have always been accommodated, balanced and implemented
into entity. They extremely rarely don’t coordinate their activities and are not working
together. In general we can say that these actors pursue the common goal in a distribution of values
of globalization, free-market and collective security. These two structures have similar principles
of doing business and take the similar attitude.
The new trend of development in the near future is the predominance of equality policy in bilateral
interactions. These relations have executed extremely high priority for the U.S. and they
will continue in in the nearest future because of the «Russian threat» and cessation strategies
«reset».
On the issue of EU-Ukraine U.S. it is necessary to say that such a cooperation is a natural
and important only for Europe, not for the States. This is taking place not only due to geographic
proximity, but also since economic issues, and the desire of the EU to monitor its eastern boundaries
and receive a number of benefits in trade and energy area. For the U.S., Ukraine is a country
that recently went on the periphery of national interest because of the policy of «reset» and
is seen mainly in the context of relations with Russia. However, given the review of the Russian
Federation in 2014, the European security system, this situation may change in favor of Ukraine.
The progression of events of how extensively will deepen cooperation with the U.S. largely depend
either on the initiatives of Ukraine.
Key words: USA, European Union, Ukraine, cooperation, competition, Transatlantic relations,
geopolitics.
