Abstract

Abstract. The article explores the issues of economic security of Ukrainian regions during
the international economic cooperation. Components, directions and volumes of regional external
partnership analyzed. Main forms of foreign economic cooperation of Ukrainian regions
with regions of other states discovered. The institutional basis for international and regional
cooperation and key tendencies of international and regional organizations development analyzed.
The prior areas studied for cooperation of Ukrainian regions under the European Neighborhood
and Partnership Instrument and the EU Support for Regional Cooperation Project,
aimed at strengthening cross-border contacts between local government, communities and civil
society institutions in order to provide solutions to common problems of socio-economic development.
The geographical structure of interregional cooperation of Ukrainian regions with regions
of foreign countries analyzed. The prospects of using the potential of inter-regional cooperation
to develop and strengthen Ukrainian-Russian relations offered. Measures to ensure the eco-

nomic security of the regions as a component of foreign economic policy at the regional level
provided. One of the main tasks of the international dimension of regional policy of Ukraine is
the implementation of rules and standards for EU regional policy, analysis of legal acts regulating
cross-border cooperation and the development of euroregions in Ukraine and other countries,
the legislative regulation of local authorities greater autonomy to provide solutions of
common with other regions and countries challenges of regional and local development.
