Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the UN activity in the domain of media law, more precisely in one of its main institute – freedom of speech. Author pays attention to the UN treaty and institutional mechanisms, which are extensively engaged in the activity relating to the freedom of speech protection on the international scene. Great attention is paid to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as to the one of the most important sources of both international and national legislations, containing basic fundamental human rights and freedoms. Besides, the article describes the UN bodies, which are responsible for the protection of human rights and freedoms and their activity in the domain of freedom of speech.
