Abstract

Paper discusses the problem of maritime piracy in XXIst century geopolitical aspect. The issues of UN legal instruments tackling maritime piracy, such as 1982
Convention and the latest legislative initiatives are discussed specifically. The current situation in Somalia, XXIst century Tortuga, is reviewed to present a more detailed analysis of the problem considered.
