Abstract

Abstract. In the article the problems of development of the system of Euro-Atlantic security
in the context of the modern intensifying military-political conflict on Eastern Europe in connection
with the Russian-Ukrainian conflict are examined. Character of relations between EU
and NATO in the field of security and defens is analysed. The author accentuates strategic errors
which the states of the West, European Union and United States admitted in the relationship
with Russia since the end of «the cold war» and in the policy towards the states of the
post-soviet area. Excessive loyalty of the subjects of Euro-Atlantic security, first of all the European
states, to authoritarian internal and aggressive external policy of Moscow during the last
decade is certainly such a basic error. Forming factors and character of political position of EU,
USA and NATO during military-political aggression of Russia against Ukraine in 2014 are discovered.
Prognoses in relation to further development of the system of Euro-Atlantic security are
given.
Key words: the system of Euro-Atlantic security, USA, NATO, EU, Eastern Europe, Russia,
Ukraine, military-political conflict.
