Abstract

Abstract. A number of research works consider the structure of economic power relations at
the abstract or theoretical, usually subnational, level. Economic power at the international level
has its own specific features. Application of economic power by a country means soft or hard
influence on another country with the use of economic means for the benefit of the first country
usually against the will of the second country. At the same time economic power relations may
lie outside the scope of deliberate economic enforcement. The author also considers sources of
economic power and the system of benefits and costs for various agents in economic power relations,
which underlie the motivation mechanism for behavioral pattern of countries in international
economic power relations.
