Abstract

Abstract. The world’s sole superpower partnership with the leading European actors largely
influences the contemporary world order. Nowadays, the consensus of Euro-Atlantic countries
in decision making contributes to the rapid crisis management, while the opposite approaches
or even spying for the partner country destroy transatlantic solidarity.
The strategic partnership of the leading European countries with the United States of America
defines the European security architecture. This article analyses the common principles, the
development trends and differences in establishing partnerships of powerful European countries
with the world’s sole hyperpower, especially in the context of security and military cooperation.
The strategic partnership with the USA of the leading European actors has different historical
bases. The establishment of the relations with the USA of some European countries is various
from the Independence war of the USA with the Great Britain to American alliance with
France in this war.
At the beginning of the XXI century the special relationship between the United Kingdom
and the United States of America being the most appropriate model of the strategic partnership
continues to be successfully operative. These countries effectively cooperate in military and intelligence
spheres; the United Kingdom has a very high degree of confidence to the USA being
dependent on this country in nuclear weapon industry, while France has its own independent
production of its nuclear arsenal. The situational strategic partnership of France with the USA
has the rivalry elements and the difference of the future European security system concepts. Despite
the fact that the USA have a global impact on the strategic landscape that country is interested
in cooperation with Germany and Italy considering their geopolitical position and
influence within the EU. A fruitful cooperation with Germany that claims leadership in the European
Union guarantees harmonious USA-EU relations and the support the American foreign
policy by Italy has a significant importance for the USA presence in the Mediterranean, their military
operability and crisis management in this region.
Key words: EU, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, NATO, strategic partnership, USA.
