Abstract

Abstract. This article examines the main approaches to the study of security problems using
theories of international relations. Found particular approaches to understanding such categories
as «national» and «international security», their relationship and features.
In the historical genesis defined the peculiarities of Security Studies such theoretical schools
as realism, neorealism, institutionalism, neo-marxism and more. Defined the link between the
concepts of national security and national interest. Investigated the influence of the international
system for safety, and the influence of non-military factors for safety of individual actors
in international relations, and the whole international system.
Analyzed the theoretical concept of security, which significantly affected for development of
safety studies in modern political science. First of all it is a B. Buzan’s and O. Wæver‘s theoretical concept of «security complex», which analyze its internal conditions and external factors
that have influenced him. Also, given the characteristics of such concepts as «community safety»
and «unipolar world».
