Abstract

Abstract. The article examines structural parameters of the post-bipolar system of international
relations along for its structural levels – distributive-relational, normative-institutional,
ideational and functional. The author argues that the post-bipolar system preserves its mixed
transitional character and its stability results not from a coherent relational configuration but
rather from complex balance between the structural levels mentioned above. Central role in it
belongs to the balance between distributive-relational and functional levels of systemic structure
while normative-institutional and ideational levels serve as intervening links between them.
The post-bipolar system preserves the element of core-periphery division but their further maintenance
may be possible only in case of system’s geopolitical polarization.
Key words: post-bipolar system, structural parameters, structural levels, core, periphery, liberal
hegemony, the West.
