The concept of region of Central-Eastern Europe: current view

The article, on the basis of the critical analysis of a wide array of foreign and domestic scientific literature, puts forward and substantiates the cooperative, inclusive concept of the region of Central and Eastern Europe as a field of two great social and political transformations of the last century – from the semi-feudal empires to the «developed socialism» and from totalitarianism to the market economy and the «open society». This concept is considered in the context of modernization and foreign policy priorities of Ukraine.Key words: Central and Eastern Europe, region, European integration, Greater Europe, modernization.
